Websites with TYPO3 – Editor Basic («CMR»)

• Learning how to use the TYPO3 Content Management System (CMS) to easily maintain and manage the content of complex and extensive websites
• Becoming familiar with the basic principles of TYPO3 in order to be able to efficiently edit the content of TYPO3 websites as a member of the editorial team – even in future versions
• Learning useful tips and tricks with many practical examples

1. First contact
   • What (exactly) is TYPO3 and what does it do
   • Backend login
   • Personal settings (e.g. language)
   • The basic structure of the user interface
   • Explanation of terms: TYPO3 core, plugins/extensions & Co
   • Understanding areas of competence: What are the tasks of an editor, an admin or a programmer
2. Working with pages
   • The basic idea of the page concept
   • The page tree
   • Creating, editing, sorting and deleting pages
   • Understanding different types of pages
   • Controlling visibility of pages
3. Working with content
   • The basic idea of content elements concept
   • Create, edit and delete content elements
   • Understand different content types
   • Controlling visibility of content elements
4. Working with files
   • Important: files are not pages
   • The "File Management" module
   • Create and manage folder structures (in a meaningful way)
   • Upload, rename, move and delete files
   • Excursus: Meta data
   • Use files in content
5. Forms
   • Add new languages
   • Translate pages
   • Translate content
6. If time permits or as a discussion starter for Q&A sessions
   • Learn about multilingualism
   • Get to know workspaces
   • Outlook: Search engine optimization

As TYPO3 versions differ slightly, the course will focus on the individual versions of the participants.

This course is aimed at editors of TYPO3 websites, decision-makers and responsible persons who would like to get to know the CMS TYPO3 more closely

Good PC user skills (PC or Mac) and basic knowledge of WWW processes are required.
First simple experiences with TYPO3 or another CMS are an advantage. Previous attendance at the following course is recommended but not required. Please bring your own TYPO3 software.

Info about the room equipment
Our courses take place on Windows or Apple devices. On request, we will be happy to provide you with an Apple computer in Zurich and Bern. Please let us know in advance by sending an e-mail to info@digicomp.ch. You can also bring your own laptop.

For virtual participation, we recommend the use of an additional monitor (not just a laptop) so that you can fully follow and participate in the lesson.
